I thought I would pass along this interesting blog post on Classroon 2.0 talking about "enhanced" podcasts. Does anyone have any experience with these tools? What do you think? Here's the www.classroom20.com/forum/topics/tools-for-making-enhanced">link!
Actually depending on the platform that you use. Photostory 3 is an excellent way to create an enhanced podcast (pictures w sound and narration correct?). I have done it in my classroom is fairly simple. On Mac platform, then Garageband is the best application out there. It is a powerful and robust program that allows anyone to create a polished product intuitively.
I've used both. However, as we are more of a PC school rather than a Mac school (conjure up images from those commercials here), we use Photostory. It is simple, and you can't beat the price, free! Its great for any school which is looking to stretch its dollars further and further.
A fellow techie teacher friend of mine swears by Mac and I'd be inclined to agree with him on this one but right now PC is all we have.
I've experimented with a couple of tools for creating enhanced Podcasts (narrated slides). I started originally with simply narrating Powerpoint slides, but the file sizes are too big for downloading. I am currently using Elluminate Live for webcasting, but I also use it in the class for capturing live lessons. Elluminate's record function stores and creates a URL for students to link to the recordings.
Recently I started using Jing, a free screencasting tool for creating mini multimedia lessons.
You can see samples of all of these on my blog: Paramedic Tutor under the eLearner and eEducator tabs.
